Boysun and Sangardak — Two Days in the Mountains, by Night Train
📍 Meeting Point
Tashkent South railway station. The group meets on Friday at 21:13
About This Tour
🏔 Boysun is the mountain country of Surkhandarya: red canyons, thousand-year-old plane trees and a living folk tradition. The Boysun folk ensemble is on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. What to expect: • The Omonkhona sanatorium and a tasting of its mineral water • The Red Canyon — rock formations that look like the surface of Mars • The Ship Canyon • The Sayrob plane trees — thousand-year-old giants and a sacred spring with fish • The Derbent canyon and Boysun's Iron Gates • The Boysun crafts centre — suzani, carpets, traditional dress • A performance by the UNESCO-listed Boysun folk ensemble • The Sangardak waterfall and a walk along the gorge • Boysun plov in a mountain chaikhana 🚆 The tour spans four calendar days and three nights: out on the Friday night train (meeting at 21:13), two days in the south, back on the night train early Monday. Two nights are on the train, one in the hotel. 🛏 One night in a Boysun hotel, in twin rooms. 🚡 The cable car at the Sangardak waterfall runs weather permitting, and only when it is operating.
